Fantastic Ft. Myers

I am just finishing up a trip to Ft. Meyers Florida where I was privileged to be part of the season at the Sydney and Berne Davis Arts Center.  Jim Griffith is my new hero for creating a beautiful performance space out of a beautiful old bank building with the help of his community.  This is how the arts stay alive & how we keep our communities focused on the benefits of the arts in their lives while simultaneously bringing back the beauty and history of forgotten architectural spaces!!!

It was a truly enjoyable trip.  The Hotel Indigo provided beautiful (pet friendly) and stylishly comfortable rooms with a GREAT rooftop gym and very good healthy food.  I even had great service at Company Hair Studio in the hotel complex on performance day (sometimes its better to let the pros do the hair).

Brick laid streets make for a nice walk and coffee shops and art galleries are everywhere.  My favorite food of all was at H2, a cool bar and restaurant in the middle of town and open late for after theater yummies.  My fave was the seafood Papardelle (an amazing array of seafood in a tomato broth with wide homemade noodles and toasty bread) while others in my party, enjoyed their selection of cheeses and delightful palate teasers like orange flower honey in the comb and quince jelly and mini dates and walnuts.  The “angry olives” were a big hit too which are served marinated in rosemary garlic and olive oil with a roasted garlic bulb that is to die for (totally worth the excessive need for mints afterward).  The martini I had after closing was likely mixed by an angel as well.
Thank you Fort Meyers, for your heart and for your hospitality.  Until next time…
